10 TIPS ON HOW TO TRAVEL LIKE A LOCAL

In today's vlog, Waltriessa shares 10 tips on how to travel like a local. Why would anyone want to do that? Locals know a lot more about a city, state, island, or destination than a tourist does. You will find yourself more immersed in the culture when you learn how the locals live. Being a tourist has its perks as well but local life is where it's at. Now come on, let's look like we live there.

  1. Find a Local who lives in the place where you are traveling

Talk to or interview an Airbnb Host, local coffee shops Patrons. local home tours

2. Go to the Grocery Store

Walk around the store to see what the locals eat, how the locals dress on regular day.

I had the best heat-em ups in Hong Kong from the grocery store.

3. Walk through the city or take a train/bus, rather than taking Uber/Lyft everywhere

In Hong Kong & Paris, France I walked everywhere.

4. Do some research before you travel.

Find things that are different from your local city.

5. Go to a Garden

I went to the garden tomb in Israel

6. Go to the Parks

Locals will be walking or running in the morning at locals parks.

7. Go to an Antique Shop

This is where you will find a local shop owner who can tell so much about the place you're visiting. They have the real inside scoop. And you might find something that you don't have back at home.

8. Eat at a Local Restaurant with food that they are known for.

In Charleston, SC I tried their crab.

9. Attend a Sporting Event

While in Tampa, Fl I went to a hockey game. Wow! I'm not a fan but it was fun to go where the locals were. They were so excited to be there.

10. Go on an excursion/experience that you've never done in hometown.

I enjoy skydiving, ziplining, water tours, woohoo!!! How about you?

BONUS: Souvenirs

If you bring home a souvenir make sure it's something you can actually use or decorate your home/office with.

International Money, Flags, ect.
